VISHNU Probably means "all-pervasive" in Sanskrit. Vishnu is the protector and preserver of the universe, usually depicted as four-armed and blue-skinned. For Vaishnavas, He is the only Ultimate Reality or God. Additionally, another important name for Vishnu is Narayana. Sri Ranganatha, Ranganathar, or Ranga (a resting form of Lord Vishnu). His consort is Goddess Lakshmi, also known as Ranganayaki, Thayar (mother in Tamil). Ranganatha or the reclining posture of the God. He is known in Tamil as Perumal, may be husband or Lord.

நடந்தகால்கள் நொந்தவோ! நடுங்கஞால மேனமாய்!
இடந்தமெய் குலுங்கவோ! இலங்குமால் வரைச்சுரம்

Is it because your feet are hurt ? Is it because your body aches ? Through feat of lifting Lady Earth , through feat of traversing the Earth ! You lie amid the Kaviri that fans out in Kudandai plains? Pray rise O Lord and speak a word, O Kesava, my Wonder Boar !
ஓஓ! உலகினது இயல்வே! ஈன்றோள் இருக்க மணை நீராட்டி,
படைத்திடந்து உண்டுமிழ்ந்தளந்து தேர்ந்து உலகளிக்கும்
முதற்பெரும் கடவுள் நிற்ப, புடைப் பல தான் அறி தெய்வம் பேணுதல்,
தனாது புல்லறிவு ஆண்மை பொருந்தக் காட்டி [thiruvAsiriyam]
The nature of this samsAram (material world) is very pathetic. When ones own mother is present, ignoring her, the less intelligent people will be decorating and worshipping a wooden-plank. The same way, when srIman nArAyaNan who first created the universe, rescued it from the ocean, protected the universe by keeping it in his stomach safe.
தீர்த்தன் உலகளந்த சேவடிமேல் பூந்தாமம் சேர்த்தி அவையே சிவன்
முடிமேல் தான் கண்டு பார்த்தன் தெளிந்தொழிந்த பைந்துழாயான்
பெருமை பேர்த்தும் ஒருவரால் பேசக் கிடந்ததே? [thiruvAimozhi - 2.8.6]
When arjunan wanted to blessed by shiva with some weapons in the battle field, he asks krishNan what to do. krishNan simply asks him to worship his most pure and auspicious lotus feet (that measured the universe) with some flowers and in the night shivan appears in arjunan's dream and shows him carrying those same flowers in his head and blessed him the weapons. srIman nArAyaNan (puNdarikAkshan - the lotus eyed) represents the supreme god who is seen in the vEdham and in the entire universe.
பர: பராணாம் புருஷோ யஸ்ய துஷ்டோ ஜநார்த்தந:
ஸ ப்ராப்நோத்யக்ஷயம் ஸ்தாநமேதத் ஸத்யம் மயோதிதம்
If our actions/deeds are pleasing to janArdhanan who is greatest amongst everyone and who is known as purusha, we have achieved the eternal spiritual goal or planet. We can confidently declare this.
நாஸ்தி நாராயண ஸமோ ந பூதோ ந பவிஷ்யதி
ஏதேந ஸத்ய வாக்யேந ஸர்வார்த்தாந் ஸாதயாம்யஹம்
There never was some one equal to NArAyaNan, there never is and there never will be. One can accomplish everything understanding these most truthful words.
ஹரிகீர்த்திம் விநைவாந்யத் ப்ராஹ்மணேந நரோத்தம;
பாஷாகாநம் ந காதவ்யம் தஸ்மாத் பாபம் த்வயா க்ருதம்
Oh best of men! Poems/songs in all or other languages are for glorifying lord. One will acquire sins for punishing the ones who were glorifying Lord in other languages.

The learned people state that "analysing archAvathAra emperumAn based on the raw material (metal, wood, stone, etc) is like doubting the chastity of ones own mother (which is very cruel). Lord descends into the temples and homes of his most dear devotees and takes any form that is desired by his devotees.

After reading, mastering, or analyzing all philosphies like sakyam, samanam, advaitham and so on, one understands that it leads no where. Luckily I have got Varada (Vishnu) to surrender to, now I am at peace, no more issues or problems. Infinite (Vishnu) can not be undertood, but can only be experienced.

The twelve Alwars (VaishNavaite devotees) lived during the period 5th-9th centuries AD. The Alvars represented all the caste-groups of the society (including two kings and one woman). Divya prabhandham is a collective body of four thousand passionate hymns written/sung by them. Ramanuja was instrumental in prabhandham or dravida vedam. Nathamuni in the 10th century, retrieved and compiled this bhakti treasure which is the pride of Tamil classical literature.

Periyalwar blesses Renganatha or Vishnu many and many a thousand years. To the bond between us, many and many a thousand years. To the divine lady resting on your manly chest and always staying with you, many and many a thousand years. To the fiery discus adorning your right shoulder, many and many a thousand years. To the conch Panchajanya that strikes terror in the battlefield, many and many a thousand years.
வையம் தகளியா வார்கடலே நெய்யாக,
வெய்ய கதிரோன் விளக்காக, செய்ய
சுடராழி யானடிக்கே சூட்டினேஞ்சொன் மாலை,
இடராழி நீங்குகவே என்று.

Tribute to Kodhai or ANDAL, from pudhuvai where swans wander (SrivilliputhUr), sang sweet musical poems. in the form of a lovely poetic garland called ThiruppAvai in praise of Lord. Let us extol her who wore the flower garlands before they were offered to the Lord. (the place where Kodhai was born is the same place where Lord Govinda lives)
வாரண மாயிரம் சூழவலம் செய்து | நாரண நம்பி நடக்கின்றா னென்றெதிர்

My father, periyazhvar, and the citizens of the village are waiting to extend a grand welcome to him with purna kumbhams. Even if I was made Indra to rule Indra’s kingdom, I shall not want it. I would prefer to be at Srirangam enjoying your presence and singing your glory.

பாரில் நின்பாத மூலம் பற்றிலேன் பரம மூர்த்தி,

Luckily I ran to Lord by grace of Good-Lord, probed into nature of my mind. I sought, and seeking, found out for myself, abode of Ultimate refuge, Narayana a good name.

பொய்ண்ணின்ற ஞானமும் பொல்லா வொழுக்கும் அழுக்குடம்பும்,

விமலன், விண்ணவர் கோன்விரை யார்பொழில் வேங்கடவன்,

The perfect-first-Lord is the radiant king of the celestials and resident of Venkatam surrounded by fragrant groves. His golden rule is just and blemish less. He made me a slave of his devotees. He is the Lord of Arangam surrounded by lofty walls. O, his auspicious lotus feet have come to stay in my eyes!
கண்ணி நுண்சிறுத் தாம்பினால் கட்டுண்ணப்
பண்ணிய பெரு மாயன், என்னப்பனில்,
நண்ணித் தென்குரு கூர்நம்பி யென்றக்கால்,
அண்ணிக்கும் அமுதூறுமென் நாவுக்கே.

Here on a leash of rope (the wonder-child) my Lord was held, when manifested as Krishna. But any one's mouth is nectar-welled when Lord or Kurugur Nambi’s name is spelled.
குலம் தரும் செல்வம் தந்திடும் அடியார் படு துயராயின எல்லாம்
நிலந்தரஞ் செய்யும் நீள்விசும்பு அருளும் அருளொடு பெருநிலம் அளிக்கும்
வலந்தரும் மற்றும் தந்திடும் பெற்ற தாயினும் ஆயின செய்யும்
நலம் தரும் சொல்லை நான் கண்டுகொண்டேன் நாராயணா என்னும் நாமம் –
By திருமங்கை ஆழ்வார் - Lord Narayana, your good name, gives a good life, of wealth and family, and removes all miseries and sufferings facing devotees, then grants the rule of the Sky and Earth with benign grace. It gives one strength, and all that there is, with love that exceeds a mother’s. Now, I know the Mantra.
